Adam | ‘Ha ‘adham | Alulim | A‑lulim | Alôros | Alorus | Y‑Chromosome Adam

The First Man | First Antediluvian Patriarch or King

Reported times range from 453,600 years before the Flood to 4004 BC

The earliest known written record describing a great Flood is the Gilgamesh Epic, written about fifty centuries ago, or about 3000 BC.  Other ancient records have been found that present lists of either 8 or 10 kings that ruled in the region of ancient Sumeria after kingship descended from heaven until the Flood.  The oldest known of these antediluvian kings lists were written perhaps as early as 2,000 BC.  Different king lists and translations variously record that the first man lived sometime between 453,600 and 222,600 years before the Flood.

The contents of the antediluvian kings lists and the Gilgamesh Epic are reflected in the Biblical Genesis accounts of the creation of the first man and the list of 10 descendants and 8 patriarchs from Adam to the time of Noah and the Flood.  Authorship of Genesis is traditionally attributed to Moses about 1,000 BC, but was probably written and heavily edited from the 9th through the 5th centuries BC.

As recorded in Sumerian Antediluvian King List translations: [1]

“After the kingship descended from heaven, the kingship was in Eridug.  In Eridug, Alulim became king; he ruled for 28,800 years”.

“After kingship had descended from heaven, Eridu became (the seat) of kingship.  In Eridu Alulim reigned 28,000 years as king; …”

Recent genetic research on variations in Y-chromosomes over time place the most recent male-male ancestor of all men living today at sometime between 270,000 and 15,000 years ago, depending on the mathematical model used. [2]

As recorded in Antediluvian Patriarch List Translations: [3]

“And God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” (Genesis 1:27)

“And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul” (Genesis 2:7).
