Pamela Graham's artistic achievements have won her recognition in WHO'S WHO IN AMERICA and WHO'S WHO IN THE WORLD.
Pamela's life can be seen as a series of journeys -- physically, artistically, and spiritually. She has trekked on quests from Peru to the Canyonlands, voyaged down the length of the Grand Canyon and up the Na Pali coast and has been seen skydiving from perfectly good airplanes. From her Colorado home she journeys around the world and these experiences have been transferred to her paintings, enriching her artwork as well as her life.
Commenting on her art, Pamela tells of her overriding desire to catch the mood, character or essence of her subjects with less emphasis on reproducing the exact likeness of them. To accomplish this, Pamela concerns herself with the play of light and shadows, repetition of shapes and her choice of colors. Capturing silhouettes at sunrise or sunset with the brilliant color of nature, watching how light falls on a canyon wall or a child’s face and hair - these are evident in her portraits and landscapes. Her current themes are flowers and sky. The flowers are impressionistic with repetition of shapes always suggesting the flowers but exploring the spaces around them also. Her sky studies establish mood with brilliant, swirling colors. Mountain, desert and ocean become secondary to this vast sky. Pamela appreciates the obvious colors of the mountains, trees and flowers but paints them her own way, keeping her paintings alive with her sense of color to express the spirit/essence of the scene.
The award-winning artist was educated at the University of Colorado and the University of Cincinnati and received further training under artists prominent throughout the U.S. Since settling in Colorado in 1981, Pamela has worked from her studio as a freelance artist in portraits, calligraphy and watercolor.
