Visionary Positive Art

It is not possible to express all our emotional feelings in words. That is why graphic arts exist. Some of our feelings are still not expressible with conventional realistic graphical representation, and that is why abstract and surrealistic art exist. Visionary positive Art is a form of surrealism particularly suited to express and partially satisfy human yearnings for the metaphysical realms of experience.

The founder of the school of Visionary Positive Art is William Roger Henry, who signs many of his paintings with his middle name spelled backward: "Regor." His work has been shown at innumerable one-man exhibits at prestigious galleries all over the United States, and has been the subject of many newspaper articles. His paintings not only say something, although what they say may not be expressible in words, they also seem to put us in contact with parts of our own minds that are otherwise not reachable. Regor's ability to produce a seemingly unlimited number of images that succeed in touching the viewer on this plane is due not alone to his undeniable compositional talent but also to his systematic use of symbols. This system for the metaphysical use of symbols distinguishes Visionary Positive Art.

Just as a writer uses twenty-six letters to compose his work, the visionary positive artist uses twelve symbols. These symbols are specific variations of triangles, circles, and squares. Their arrangement, color, and size in the composition determine the metaphysical dimension that the artist is striving to contact. The paintings are not merely artistic compositions, they influence the viewer in ways predictable by the visionary positive system.
